Elder Soares now becomes the first apostle from outside the United States to dedicate a temple in his home country. And he dedicated the Church’s seventh temple in Brazil — and 164th worldwide — in Portuguese, his native tongue.
It doesn’t matter where we serve; what the Lord cares about is how we serve.
“Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.”—Matthew 5:44
The Nelsons and Gongs visited seven countries during the Pacific ministry that ran from May 16–25, 2019. Destinations included Kona, Hawaii; Apia, Samoa; Sydney, Australia; and Wellington and Auckland, New Zealand; Suva, Fiji; Nuku'alofa, Tonga; and Papeete, Tahiti. While in Tahiti, President Nelson and Elder Gong talked with the media about their ministry to the South Pacific, where they spoke to more than 94,000 people. “My feelings are of gratitude and love,” said President Nelson. “My goodness, when you think of the outpouring of love we've received and that which we've tried to give, … we're just very grateful.” Elder Gong expressed his appreciation to President Nelson. “What he's done is something quite magnificent to come and be with the people in a way that brings the Lord's love,” he remarked. President Nelson was touched by the music he heard during his ministry in the South Pacific. “In some cultures, people feel bashful or reticent to sing. Not so in these islands. They have a great love for God. … They want to sing because it's their way of expressing gratitude and love for their Lord. It's really quite remarkable.”
In Fiji, President Nelson reminded Saints of their divine potential. “What does [God] want [from us] for Himself?" President Nelson asked. "Fortunately, He has given us the answer. He said, ‘what I want most of all is for my children to be immortal and to have the gift of eternal life.’”
President Nelson announced the location of the Church's newest temple in New Zealand during a Tuesday evening devotional in Auckland. The Auckland New Zealand Temple, announced in October 2018, will be the country’s second temple. The Hamilton New Zealand Temple is currently closed for renovation.
President Nelson met with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as he reached the midway point of his nine-day Pacific ministry visits to seven countries.
President Russell M. Nelson reminded a capacity crowd of 8,000 Latter-day Saints Sunday night at the International Convention Centre in Sydney of the power and importance of the Book of Mormon in their personal lives and in the growth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Australia. The prophet noted that Church growth in Australia has tripled since his call as an Apostle in 1984.
President Nelson counseled Samoans to “please protect your children. Help them to know the Lord and love Him and keep His commandments and be free from the shackles of addiction and bondage.” He also met with Samoan community leaders, including the prime minister and the head of state.
Hundreds of Hawaiian Latter-day Saints greeted the Nelsons and the Gongs at a meeting with young single adults, a reception with community leaders, and an evening devotional.

A tribute to all of the mothers in our lives; those we know, and those who came before. We are who we are largely because of our mother. Honor your mother by preserving the memories of her on familysearch.org.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continues to encourage its membership around the world to participate in the revision of the faith’s two sacred books of music — Hymns and Children’s Songbook. Latter-day Saints are invited to consult new information regarding strategic goals for hymn and song selection, as well as doctrinal priorities for new musical submissions. Those interested can write, compose and submit works by July 1, 2019. They can also participate in the revision process through an online survey.

Ephesians 6:10-1 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches that God created the earth to provide a place for the human family to learn, progress and improve. God first created the earth and all living things spiritually, and all living things have great worth in His eyes
